February 3, 2013 is the big day when Super Bowl 2013 is scheduled to be played. The venue for Super Bowl XLVII is the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. This is the first time New Orleans is hosting the Super Bowl since Hurricane Katrina. But overall, this is the tenth time the city is hosting the Super Bowl. The city will be packed with several exciting and fun events in the days before the Super Bowl. The NFL Experience and Media Day at the Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Convention Center and the Super Bowl Fan Jam are just a few examples of things for fans to do. Music, food, and interactive fan events on Verizon Super Bowl Boulevard will enhance the party scene.

The other big event in New Orleans, the Mardi Gras, is also scheduled for the month of February. While Mardi Gras 2013 parades will be starting on January 19th, they will be paused from January 28 through February 5 because of the the Super Bowl. due to the Super Bowl.

The game is to be shown on TV by CBS. NBC had televised the Super Bowl last year, and that telecast became the most-watched program on American TV. Interestingly, the prior record had been set during Super Bowl 2011. CBS must surely be hoping for the same thing again this year!

Rumor has it that the costs for a 30 second slot during the Super Bowl is going to be about a mind-numbing US $4,000,000! Some companies (for instance General Motors) have made it known that they will not advertise during the game this time, in light of the gargantuan costs. Other companies, for instance Pepsi, Budweiser, Mars Chocolate and GoDaddy, will be advertising during the Super Bowl in 2013. It is rumored that in spite of the absurdly high prices, the advertisement slots are nearly all full as of early January - just imagine!

There is always a lot of interest surrounding who the main performer is going to be at the Halftime Show. One of the star attractions of the halftime show is Beyonce. So the Halftime Show for Super Bowl XLVII will definitely be enjoyable. Purportedly, fans will be introducing Beyonce at the show. A competition organized by Pepsi is currently underway, so enter if you would like to be featured as one of the fans introducing Beyonce! Sounds interesting.

Guesses abound about which team is the most likely one to win the title in 2013.Many seem to believe one of the San Francisco 49ers, the Falcons the Patriots, and the Broncos as the top contenders.

The excitement is mounting now that the big event is so close! Purportedly one can still purchase tickets for the Big Game if you are so includined. If you are not going to be there in person, will you be at a Super Bowl Party that day? Or will you be chilling out at home with some beer and snacks? Just a few more weeks to go!
